Dr Mommy

This is Mary's security blanket/bear. His name is Pinto. This is Pinto #1. He has gone EVERYWHERE with her for the past two years. About a month ago his paws started to wear thin. They have a soft ribbon cover to them, well had. Then the bow started to wear thin and fell off at one point. Dr Mom had to sew that on. Since she sleeps with it and rubs the bow, there was not much left and if it was not there was a problem. SOOO I, Dr Mom, decided to get new ribbon and replace the parts which were no longer there so much. The paws were totally gone and the arm stuffing was falling out. I had already found stuffing in the washing machine once and was afraid to find less of it again. So, I bought some new stuff at Walmart and went to do some surgery. Kevin had to keep her outside while I did this because she would NOT leave me alone. Then when he had her outside she was crying to come back in. It was quite the trauma.
Pinto made it through surgery just fine. Kevin laughed at my work, but it was my first surgery. I'm sure the first of Many. I will perfect them as I go along. But it's all fixed and she is a happy girl to have Old Pinto fixed.

Our Own Personal CSI

For those of you who watch CSI Las Vegas, you will like this. This show is filmed on our valley, not really in Vegas. They do some filming in the canyon where my parents live. About two years ago they parked on my parents property and paid them to do this. So, they were going to film again and wanted to park their stuff on the property again. Hey, who can pass up free money!!

So, we had to go over and see the action. We sat our front of the house and watched the action. Not much action really but all the trucks and stuff parked out there. The actual filming was going on down the street. SO there were cars going in and out all the time bringing crew back and forth.

Eventually we decided to walk out and look around. There was only one actor actually working that day and we happened to be out there while he was brought back to his trailer. So, of course, we had to meet him and get a picture with him. Let me just say, he's HOT in person. I love Kevin and all, but even he said he's pretty hunky. His real name is George Eads. He plays Nick Stokes on the show.

They were filming an episode where there is a red Sebring convertible smashed into a tree. So when you see that episode, that's the one filmed in their canyon. Pretty darn cool.

auction fun

Kevin's sister, Linda, has MS. Yesterday was the MS golf tournament for MS which Jim and Linda put on. Kevin went and helped out for the day. I went for the dinner and auction at the end. It was a fun adult time. A comediam Jim and Linda met on their Alaska cruise was our dj/mc. He has been on the tonight show 6 times and was really funny. He got a package donated from the tonight show to auction off. It is for four VIP tickets to a show and a back stage meet and greet with Jay. Well, Jim bid on it and won!! So, we said we'd split the bid and go with them. That should be a fun night whenever we go. Since Jay is leaving the show it will be fun to say we saw him before he left. Then we bid on some silent auction stuff. We won a wine basket. It was full of one wine and a bunch of snacks, which will be great to take on our wine tasting trip in a week. Then I bid on a picture package for a family photo. We won that too. But I didn't notice that it has to be booked w/in a month. Well, the whole reason I bid on it was so we could have a nice family photo once the second one comes. Well, I'm going to call and try to wiggle my way around that. Cry if I have to, but I don't want to do it until January or so. So, we shall see what happens. So, overall it was a fun night of adult fun. The food was great. I ate a HUGE piece of chocolate cake. I ate the whole thing too. I fell kinda bad, but it was soooo good. I will go walking today and ry to work it off.

Beach Fun

On Saturday we went to the beach for a day of fun. Mary is getting better and better at the beach. It's fun now. She loves the water and chasing the birds. Oh, and rocks are great too. We had to stop and big up all the big rocks we came across.

This is the first rock she found and was very proud of.

Oh where, Oh where, has our big couch gone????

When we moved into the house, 5 years ago this January (wow!), we bought a couch designed to fit the living room. Well, it fit the living room ONE way and one way only. A nice big comfy L shaped couch. Well, as years have gone on and kid toys have accumulated, we have lost our living room. SO, we decided today to try to rearrange it to give us more room. We will have to be bringing all that infant stuff back in to be with Mary's toys, as well. WELL, let me tell you, it did not turn out how we had it in our heads. The couch 4 sections to it, two pieces of two seats, a chaze, and a corner piece. Well, the chaze has been in Mary's room for about a year and now the corner piece is in the shed. We now have one long couch that doesn't really fit on the wall we planned all this on. The corner entertainment center we have now is propped against a flat wall, looking not so normal. BUT we have a long empty wall to put all the baby and toy stuff. We have a bit of furniture shopping to do before December and to get this room looking like a normal room.

Ice'd Tea???

Ok, had to write about this one. Mary woke up with 100.9 fever this morning, so I'll take her to the doctor today. Since we are good about peeing in the potty, I thought I'd take a urine sample in case they want it. So, I got an empty water bottle and put her sample in it. I put in on the counter thinking I'd tell Kevin what it is. Well, I forgot. Then I see him pouring milk into a water bottle and the bottle of pee is no longer on the counter. So, I ask him what he did with Mary's pee. He made a face and said "pee? I thought that was ice'd tea" Well, he luckily poured it out first before trying it, BUT, he didn't ask what it was. Sooooo, I had to get Mary to pee again to get my sample again. Luckily we are doing pretty good about peeing in the potty.

potty training break through!!

So, we started potty training on Monday, today is Wednesday. We've done really well. We've only had a couple accidents on Monday and poopy ones since then. Poopy is a little different than pee. ANYWAY, today she was in the other room and she went running to the bathroom and said "potty potty". She knew she had to go!!! Something is working!!! We have a super smart child!! So proud of her. Let's hope this continues.
But on another note, she has had 100 fever since 11:00 today. So, we are trying to calm that down and hope it doesn't turn into something else. Kevin has been sick for the past few days. So hopefully Mary didn't catch it. Thank gosh I have not, knock on wood.
