a night as the Von Brochtrup Family

Saturday night Kevin stayed home with the girls and I went with my mom and the Brochtrups to the Hollywood Bowl to the sing along of The Sound Of Music. It was a lot of fun. It was sold out. Everyone singing together under the moon and stars with their bad voices. It was great. The weather was a perfect 75 degrees all night. The NOT fun part was leaving the bowl to get to the fwy, which took us a good HOUR. But it was a fun evening over all!

Congrats Corie and Richard!!!!

Corie and Richard finally tied the knot Saturday 9-11-2010. 9-11 is now a great day to remember for us!! Corie has been my best friend for 27 years. Her parents bought my parents house and we have all stayed friends ever since. Taking family vacations together and just making memories together. She asked me to be her one and only brides maid. I was super excited.
10:30am Kevin drops me off at the hair salon to start our fun filled day. We had a fabulous time getting ready. We had the salon to ourselves with family and friends getting ready.

Between all of getting our hair done or make-up, wen did not leave until 2:30. So much fun.
THen we were off to Knolwood to get ready for the event to start and party. The reception room looked beautiful. Their colors were Red, Black, and White.

We were all dressed and ready to get the show on the road. But Corie was nervous and needed to relax.
So, it was time for a shot, or two!

So now we are ready! The ceremony was beautiful. The weather was perfect. She did better than she thought she was. She may have started to cry a little at vow time, but it was perfect. They were officially married and now it was time to party!
From there was danced the night away. There was no stopping us, any of us. I got my crab dancing on and enjoyed my kid free party time.
When it came time to give my maid of honor speech, well, I broke down. I had to follow the best man speech, which was great. So I stand up and go to the front and grab the microphone. I say two words and I choke up and start to cry. Now that I did NOT expect to do. Great, now I can talk and am standing in front of 238 people staring at me. So I take a couple deep breaths and somehow get a short story out. Start to choke up again, deep breath, and quickly get out 'to Richard and Corie' and I'm done. Where did that come from????? HELLO!

We were one of the last 15 or so people left at the end of the night.

Me and the best man, Dan

THey are spending their honeymoon in Hawaii. I am so happy for them. They are truely right for each other. Thanks for the great party Corie and Richard. To many many many years ahead together!!! Love you both!

My Big Girl

Today was Mary's first day of Pre-K School. She kept asking me ALL morning when she was going. That is one bad thing about school starting at 12:30. Finally it was time to go. We got all ready and got in the car, to go the 1/4 mile down the street. We get there and Mary is all ready to go. She sits on the carpet and barely says bye and Teresa and I are on our way back home for nap.
When I go to pick her up at 4, when class is over, she's one of the last three kids left. Poor thing. Oh well. The first thing the teacher tells me is that Mary is her best kid. DUH!! Mary gets up and starts playing with toys. So I have to tell her wel'l be back tomorrow and we are on our way home.
She was so tired when we got home. She was SUPER cranky and I could tell she needed a nap. BUT there was no way to get to her take one, by my telling her to take one. She was whiny and cranky and then all of a sudden it was quiet. I turn around to see her on the couch passed out. Poor thing.
I look at these pictures and they make me realize how grown up she is. My little girl is a true little girl now and growing up. It is fun to see, but sad to see I do not have a baby any longer. BUT we have such fun times to look forward to. = )

Traumatic/Crazy Days

I have been trying to get Mary into the preschool down the street. FINALLY got it all figured out and talked to someone and got all my paperwork in. I had a week to get all the stuff finalized for her at the doctor. So, Wednesday, I run down to the doctor to get her a TB test so I can get it read on Friday. That was NOT fun. Thankfully my mom took Teresa from me when I saw her at the gym. Mary did NOT want to have a shot. I have to hold her down in my lap with one leg over her legs and hold down one arm with one hand and try to straighten out the other arm to put the shot in. Let me tell you, she is really strong for a four year old. We finally get the shot done and she cries more. She gets stickers and then is a little better. We are then on our way home.
I had also given the doctor a form to fill out from the school. 4:00, that same day, they call me and tell me that they need to do three more tests which are needed on the form. They could not have seen this when I was already there??????????? HELLO!!!!! So, in order to get it all done by Friday with lab work I run back to the office, which is across town about 10 miles. I need to get there by 4:30. I throw the kids in the car, as is, and we are off. I get there and have to wait, of course. The girls are fussy and don't' want to be there. Neither do I. They finally call us in. They need to do a hearing test and an eye test, and a glucose test. Of course, Mary does not want any tests done. We get her to do the hearing and eye test ok. Then come time to prick her finger for a little blood. Here comes the tears and the whining. Super mom to the rescue to hold her down and straighten her finger. We get that done, get more stickers, and we are off. Poor Teresa had to experience that one.
Ok, so we get that day over with. Now it's on to Thursday to go to the dentist for the first time. Here we go again with the fun of super mom. Thankfully my mom takes Teresa again. We get to the dentist. Mary is not happy. She doesn't want to do this. Says she does not like the dentist, which she has never been to. They have toys all over and she is happy playing with them. Then they call her in. She does not want to go. I drag her to the x-ray room. She does not want to sit down to get pictures taken. Finally she sits on my lap on the chair and we take some digital pictures of her teeth. Not so bad she decides. Then we move to the dentist chair. NO WAY is she going to sit there. So, I climb in and drag her on top of me. She's still not happy. The dentist comes in and is really nice and trying to talk to her to get her to clean her princess teeth. We finally get her to try the dentist's brush cleaner on one tooth. She thinks it tickles, so is 'ok'. We eventually get her to do the cleaning. She got two toys out of it, from the dentist, AND a free electric tooth brush. Let me tell you, she has not brushed her teeth so many times in one day thanks to that tooth brush. She did not have one cavities and the dentist said she had healthy looking teeth. YEAH MARY!
Now it is Friday and we have to go back to the doctor to get her TB test read. Of course, she does not want to go back to that scary place. I assure her there is going to be no needles of any kind. We get there and they want her to pee in a cup too. I have her pee before we leave the house, so she had no pee in her. Ok, fine take the cup home and bring it back with pee, TODAY. Seriously? You could not have done this test on Wednesday when I flew back here for the other three tests? OMG! So we get the TB test read, negative!!! Now we are off to the school, back at home 10 miles away, for a parent meeting. I fly back there and have our little meeting, while Mary and Teresa tear apart all the toys in the place. AND I find out I need to be back at 1:00 for a parent meeting about the program. Right at Teresa's nap time. Oh well, she'll deal. So, we clean that up, go home and get Mary to pee in the cup. FLY back 10 miles to the doctor to drop off the pee. Wait while they test it and get me my form I need for school. FLY back home, 10 miles, and feed the girls and get back to school for the meeting. Have the meeting and get home to finally put Teresa down for me.
Everything is finally complete and Mary is officially going to start school on Tuesday! She will go M-F 12:30-4. Lunch and a snack is provided and the best part, it's all FREE and walking distance from the house. I do have to volunteer 20 hours a month, but it's all worth it to me, I hope. Mary is super excited to go to school. So, my little girl is growing up.

Camping With Friends

This last weekend we went camping at the beach. We went up Thursday after Kevin got off work. Jamie, Joe, Gabriella, and Santino came up on Friday about 3:00. Michelle, Rob, and Brooke came up on Friday just after everyone else and stayed the whole weekend. We had a great time. The kids had fun playing together in the sand and water. 5 kids. Mary 4, Teresa 1 1/2, Brooke 2 1/2, Gabriella 3 1/2, and Santino 1 1/2 (5 days younger than Teresa). They all played great together. Us, adults, had a good time together as well. Jamie surprised Michelle and I wanting to do shots of rum. Well, we didn't seem to having any trouble putting a couple down and getting a little silly.
The weather was beautiful and we all had a fun fun time!

This is Angus, the best dog EVER. He did not bark at anything all weekend. He was just happy to be camping and not left at home.
