one week of swim down

We finished week one of two weeks of swim today. I feel she is improving. At first she didn't really want to do anything but hang on me like a monkey. We have progressed to playing on the stairs to come in the pool and she will hold onto the side of the pool and float for a minute. Every day we have a different lifeguard in the pool with us. They all say she is doing just fine and she will progress in time. So, it's all good. She does get excited when we are getting ready to go, so that is good. The pool isn't too warm, and we do start at 9am, so I can give her that excuse.

first swim class

Today we had our first mommy and me swim class. We were the first ones to arrive, thanks to me and how I always have to be on time. So, we walked into the, not so warm, water. She did great. I held her and we waited for our first instructions. He told us to Ly the kids on their tummies and get them to kick. Well, she didn't want to kick. I finally got her to do it and then she wouldn't do it anymore. Then he told us to get them to lay on their backs and kick. Well, that was not going to happen. We spent the whole class just trying to get them to kick. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Fun with Bugs and Bubbles

Mary loves bugs. I'm not a big bug person, but I guess I have to be now. For her birthday she got this cool bug box, so we put it to use last night. She found a stink bug and Kevin put it in her box. She carried it around and showed it different things. Then she got a wash cloth and washed the box off, thinking she was washing the bug.
If you can see the little but in there in the upper left hand corner. It as pretty exciting!
While Mary was playing with her bug, daddy was bbq'ing bubbles. This was another birthday present. It's actually pretty cool. It makes a lot of bubbles and is easy for Mary to do herself. AND it entertains my husband too!!

4th of July Fun!

Every year since I was a kid we have gone to the 4th of July car show in Fillmore. I grew up a car club kid. And now it looks like Mary will be doing the same. Right here she is standing next to grandpa's truck. She would like to sit on the foot board, right there, and grandpa told her that she is the only one is was allowed to do that. Mary has him wrapped around his little finger, or what!
Grandma bought Mary her first pinwheel. She eventually understood how to make it work. She kept wanting to put her lips on it and blow, and that didn't really work. SO, she would put it our faces to make it go. Whatever works!
Mary got her first taste of a snow cone. She enjoyed it. She ate this right before we left and still passed out in the car and slept for almost three hours when we got home. I guess sugar doesn't effect her too much yet.
We never saw any fireworks. I don't think I've seen fireworks in the past 10 years. After starting the car show at 8am, I'm not up for staying up late in the dark. SO, maybe next year Mary will get to see some. She never has seen any, so she doesn't know what she's missing out on yet.

Officially 2

July 2nd was Mary's officially birthday. She had her party on Sunday, but we still did a small celebration as a family on the actual day. I got her a small cake and a small present to open. She is going to start thinking every day is her birthday if this keeps happening. But, she enjoyed having cake one more time. Ok, mom and dad enjoyed having cake too. = )

We went to the doctor today for her two year check up. I tried to get her excited about the doctor. She was excited while we were in the waiting room, but as soon as the nurse called her name she was attached to me like glue. She cried a bit when the doctor came in, but I did my best to keep her calm. She did have to have one shot, hep A, and she did cry but did great. I had to keep reminding her that she got a cool band aid. So, she's doing great. She is 36 inches tall and 26 pounds. That kid just doesn't gain weight. Wish I had that problem. But we are doing good!!

My baby is growing up

Today we had Mary's 2nd birthday party at our house. Nice day, a little hot, but nice. We had Kevin's family and mom and dad from my side, along with The Hill family, Chuck, Traci, Farah, and Bob and Georgi. A really nice party. Mary had a good time. Loved opening her presents. She made out with presents too, of course. Kids make our better than us adults do.
mmmmmm cake. Where do I start?????
Right there and here is how I finished!! I hope the purple comes off of her skin eventually. Right now she looks bruised all over.
SO, it's been a fun two QUICK years. I can't believe it's been that long. Off to more eventful years!!

June Doc Apt

Today was my June doctor apt for the baby. I'm officially 14 weeks along and over the first trimester hump!!!! Things are looking good. We heard the heart beat. It was strong. It took a little bit of time to find it since the baby is hiding behind my flubber roll, but we found it. The doc told me to stop eating carbs so I don't gain too much weight. I've gained 7 pounds since I"ve found out and she only wants me to goin 15 more. No presure!!!! Well, before I got pregnant I was really good about not eating many carbs, but, this baby wants carbs. Give it rice and pasta and it's happy. Ok, I'm happier is more like it. But, I'm going to do my best to be better for a month and see how that works. I've battled with my weight all my life, so I'm not going to be told to sacrifice more things than I already am. This is the last time I'm doing this, so let me be! I have my apt to go back in a month and I was also able to schedule my next ultrasound, which will be August 5th. That is Kevin's birthday. Hopefully we'll be able to find out what the sex is for his birthday present. WE shall see!!!
